Sparx: 5 Steps

Students who are accepted to participate in the SPARX scholarship program will be required to complete the following five steps before the start of the trip.

STEP 1- LEARN ABOUT A JEWISH HERO

Choose from one of a number of Jewish heroes and learn about their lives and their teachings. All the sources needed for your learning are available in both English and Hebrew through our website.Please choose from one of the following Jewish Heroes:

Rambam

David Hamelech

Rebbe Akiva

Bruriah

Rachel Imenu

After completing the learning please answer the accompanying questions and submit the completed work to yosef@ncsy.ca.

STEP 2- CHESSED COMPONENT

Choose from one of a number of chessed options based on your interests and talents. You will have the option to raise funds or awareness for one of many Jewish and Israeli organizations.

Once completed please send a brief summary of your accomplishments to yosef@ncsy.ca.

STEP 3- PARENT ENGAGEMENT

Students will be asked to attend one of several approved speakers in Toronto between now and the start of the trip. To learn about some of the speakers available this year through NCSY please click here.

After listening to the speaker, please send a brief 1 page summary of your thoughts of the event to yosef@ncsy.ca.

STEP 4- SHABBOS PROGRAM

Students who participate in NCSY SPARX will attend a single-gender Friday night experience in their community. Students will be asked to come to a special Davening at Shul followed by dinner, a speaker and an Oneg. To learn more about the Shabbos programming please click here.

STEP 5- SCHOOL ENGAGEMENT

Students who are chosen for NCSY SPARX are asked to be participants in an existing extra-curricular program in their schools. Participating schools may offer a wide variety of programming such as Mishmar, extra learning, Chessed programming etc… Please send Students who are accepted to participate in the SPARX scholarship program will be required to complete the following five steps before the start of the trip.
