Director of Junior Programming

 

SEEKING A DIRECTOR OF JUNIOR NCSY FOR THE GTA

NCSY is looking to hire a Director of Junior NCSY to serve as the head of the middle school division.

Junior NCSY

This division of NCSY focuses on the middle school student and bringing Jewish educational programming to them. The focus of this position is to create a robust community for grades 6-8 and the families of those students. Programming will include education and learning opportunities, running clubs in various day school and public-school settings, social events, trips, and shabbat engagement.

 

PROGRAMS BREAKDOWN

 

JSU Clubs

These are weekly lunchtime culture clubs run at various public schools. The responsibilities include preparing meaningful weekly activities and developing relationships with youth during the program to transition them to other programs.

 

Weekly Programs

These programs engage students in an educational but fun way building a connection to other youth. These programs can vary from learning, social and chesed opportunities.

 

Bar/Bat Mitzvah Program

As this is a pivotal time in their lives having a program that provides insights into this important milestone that they share with friends and family will serve as a crucial piece to connecting to their Jewish identity and making Judaism meaningful to them for years to come.

 

Relationships

An important part of the position is developing individual relationships with alumni and teens. This includes chavrusah learning and regular meetings to discuss their personal growth.

 

Social Events

To help build a community of Juniors, consistent social events is critical. A main focus of this should include Holiday programming. Creating regular social opportunities for them is an important aspect of the position.

 

Shabbat Engagement

Regular shabbat connections are the most impactful experiences for our youth. This will be accomplished through Shabbat meals and Shabbatons.

 

Family Engagement

The Jewish Family Experience, the division of NCSY Canada, that aims to encourage and foster family engagement understands the important of bringing Judaism to the entire family. This division engages parents through weekly learning opportunities, shabbat engagement, holiday programming and trips.

 

Summer Camp

A summer camp is an opportunity to engage with youth during the summer in building connections to peers and a strong sense of Jewish pride that they will take into the school year. The development of a summer camp will enable for the natural flow into the NCSY Summer Program.
