PROGRAMS BREAKDOWN

JSU Clubs

These are weekly lunchtime culture clubs run at various public schools. The responsibilities include preparing meaningful weekly activities, coordinating the clubs with the school Presidents, and developing relationships with teens during the program to transition them to higher level programs.

Alumni Scholars and Learn and Earn Programs

The Alumni Scholars Program is a weekly learning programs that include a stipend for Alumni. Sessions usually run for 20 weeks. The program is very similar to the popular Maimonides Campus program. A similar program that is run for high school teens is the Learn and Earn program. This includes weekly learning with small groups of students in central locations.

Relationships

An important part of the position is developing individual relationships with alumni and teens. This includes chavrusah learning and regular meetings to discuss their personal growth.

Social Events

To help build a community of alumni, consistent social events is critical. A main focus of this should include Holiday programming. The same is true for teens in the South area of the city. Creating regular social opportunities for them is an important aspect of the position.

Shabbat Hosting

Regular shabbat meal hosting is critical to the growth of alumni and teens. The couple’s home will serve as a base for operations with a constant flow of students coming through their home, primarily for shabbat meals.

Trips

NCSY will look to send Alumni to Israel every summer with the couple on trips either provided by NCSY or in partnership with other outreach organizations. As well, there are shorter trip opportunities throughout the year that will be a focus of this position. NCSY also sends teens to Israel every summer. Participation on these trips is something that can explored for this position.

Shabbatons

One of the most impactful programs that NCSY runs are shabbatons at various points throughout the year. A key component of this position is the recruitment and participation on these conventions to leverage them as relationship building opportunities with one’s students.
